Project Overview
Angel invested EdTech startup, Knowledge Officer, required a redesign of the interface for their new product offering, Skills Insights. I undertook a two-week sprint with three other team members, using the entire UX process, including interviews with target users, multiple design studios and a lot of user testing.
Our task was to redesign Knowledge Officer’s new product offering, Skills Insights, which uses artificial intelligence to analyse the user’s LinkedIn profile, assess their skillset and provide them with a free skills report. This highlights the skills they’re missing and the path to achieving their dream role.
With a focus on the on-boarding journey to iron out bumps of confusion in the road to career glory and enriching the insights in the skills report, we built a clear, intuitive interface for its users whilst ensuring the company achieved their key business goals.
THE CHALLENGE
Create an intuitive on-boarding journey for Knowledge Officer's new product offering, Skills Insights, resulting in user requesting a free skills report. Pay specific attention to the report wait time and report insights.
THE SOLUTION
Skills Insights Web App
A clear on-boarding journey, walking you through the key features of the Skills Insights product - it uses artificial intelligence to analyse the user’s LinkedIn profile, assess their skillset against six tech careers and provide them with a free skills report.
The skills report was given additional insights including comparative salaries, job listings, industry news and a ‘My Learning’ page.

KEY FEATURES

1. The Report Confirmation Page
After users have connected their LinkedIn profile, they are directed to the report confirmation page. The skills report is not instant, but is emailed to you so we altered the copy to be informative, with a countdown timer to let users know when they could expect to receive it. We included a ‘re-send’ button so users could have the email resent to them if they hadn’t received it at the end of the timer.
The page included an animated preview of the report outlining the key insights they would receive. The current job seeker article was replaced with further information about the six tech careers.
2. Career Index Page
We developed an index page where the user could see their current skillset measured against all 6 of the tech careers Knowledge Officer offers learning paths for.
Users could see the percentage skills match they have across all six, with the largest box being their closest match, and be able to click through to the report for the career they’re interested in.
The report had the functionality for them to view their skills in relation to the five other careers also.
